Peter Alexander joined the Devonport Bowls Club on 5th August 1971 and has been, and still is, a loyal and supportive member. He was granted Life Membership on 17th June 2007.
Peter is visually impaired, but this did not stop him pursuing his love of sport.
Prior to taking up bowls, Peter played cricket with Devonport Modern School (Reece High), Devonport, Devon Colts and the R.S.L. He also played and coached basketball for the Generals.
Since commencing bowls, he has played pennant in the higher divisions and been part of winning premierships with his team. He has also won many Club Championships.
Peter has played in the Australian Blind Bowls competitions winning the Singles title on 13 occasions: 1985, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 98, 99, 2001, 02, 06 and 2012.
He has also represented Australia in World Blind Bowls:
1989 - Harare, Zimbabwe - Gold Medal - Singles
1993 - Vancouver, Canada - Silver Medal - Singles
1997 - Hamilton, New Zealand - Gold Medal - Mixed Pairs
2001 - Girvan - Scotland - Silver Medal - Mixed Pairs.
Peter is a true inspiration to us all.
