Country Club News - November

Eighty members from all sections attended the AGM held at the Bowls Venue in Fenton Street on the 14th November. It was good to see the interaction and excitement between the bowls, croquet and golf members. The highlight of the evening was the project update given by Sheree Vertigan, Chair of the Steering Committee, especial when she announced that the project remained on time and that the “practical completion hand over” was due to start. There was no voting for new Directors as they all remain in office until the AGM in 2020. It was also announced that the respective sporting committees would remain in office until 2020.

A lot of frantic work has been going on behind the scenes to enable us to be ready for opening the doors. Neveco, our IT service provider, is currently installing the computer network into the building. The installation of the new integrated management computer system has commenced with the MiClub golf system going live on Thursday 21st November 2019. The MiClub Membership component is currently been built and the final installation and training will take place from the 9th December to the 12th December 2019. MiClub POS has been built and installation and training will take place from the 2nd to the 5th December 2019.

The fit out of the Sport Shop started on the 25th November 2019 and is expected to be complete by the 4th December 2019. The stocking and merchandising of the shop will commence on the 4th December and is expected to be complete by the 6th December and staff training will then take place.

The front practice putting green design is complete and work in this area will commence within the next few weeks. It is expected that the putting green will be out of action for six to eight weeks.

TAB and Keno are due for installation before we open the doors.

On the Staff front, Tally Wainwright has been appointed as Events Operations Manager and broadly her duties will include the organising Functions and managing the Bars and Kitchen. Interviews have been conducted for the Chef position and a final decision will be made soon. Interviews are also in progress for the Sport Shop staff.

The “Ditches” on the outdoor bowling greens are planned to be completed during the week beginning the 25th November 2019. The surface is now down to playing height but has not been rolled yet. Fencing on the green number one will be erected soon.

The croquet/bowls shed is under construction and should be completed within the next week. The croquet lawns are slightly behind target but will be ready for play by the end of December.

In closing, it is very important that members understand the club is and has always been a licenced premise. BYO is strictly prohibited on the bowling greens, croquet lawns and golf course as well as in the club rooms. This is a liquor Licencing law and could affect our liquor Licence if breached. Members are urged to cooperate in this matter as it is your club.
