81 year old John Sartori was a popular winner of the 2019 Burnie Golf Club Spring Cup. The revamped format with an Ambrose Twosome on Saturday and 18 hole Spring Cup on Sunday proved very popular with strong fields competing on both days.
In an emotional speech, Sartori said that it was a last minute decision for him to enter the event. He thanked Tournament organisers for a successful and well run 2019 Spring Cup.
Sartori's score of 68 nett was good enough to win on a countback from new Burnie member Graeme Farr who took out the B Grade event. The best of the A Grade field was Mark Milligan on a 71 net. Milligan also won the A Grade scratch with a gross score of 75. The best B Grade gross was Graeme Farr with 85 off the stick, while Sartori also won the C GRADE gross on a score of 89.
Saturday's Ambrose Twosome attracted a field of eighty players, with the husband and wife combination of Ian and Melissa Coffey proving too good for the opposition with a score of 60.75 Runners Up were Garry Cross and Shane Lamprey shooting 63.25 and winning the count back from Russell and Jayne Flint. The Ladies nett winner was Jayne Flint shooting a score of 70 with runner-up Jeanette Loring four shots back on 74 and winning the count back from Melissa Coffey.

Devonport Country Club’s Greg Lawler has done at it again, scoring his third hole in one! This time on the 162 meter par three 5th hole at the Devonport Country Club. He used a well struck five hybrid straight at the flag. It pitched about five meters short of the hole, bounced a couple times and rolled into the hole. Well done Greg.
