The next round of GNW and WGT-NW pennant matches were played on Sunday and Monday.

In The men’s division one Devonport hosted a strong Wynyard team which turned out a closer match than expected, with a number of Devonport’s premier players not being available. Wynyard came out on top in the end with a 4/3 win. With Devonport’s Josh Molendyk, Peter Nielsen and Michael Routledge winning their matches with some convincing results, they only needed one more match to take out the season favourites. With Craig Hancock never in trouble against Keith Preece and Mark Allison having gone down to B Kalbfell 5/4 it was up to either Robbie McDonald or Allan Halliwell to pull something out of the bag. Mc Donald took Braden Field to the 17th but unfortunately Field won the 17th and the match 2/1. Halliwell in his first game of the season, put on a great display, but unfortunately loosing on the 18th hole.

Other results from the weekend:

Division 2 Thirlstane at home to Burnie lost 3/4 while Ulverstone had a bye.

Division 3 Wynyard hosting Thirlstane were too strong beating them 6/1, with Devonport travelling to Seabrook also not performing at their best loosing 5/2 to Seabrook. Penguin defeated Smithton 5/2 to make it a clean sweep for the home teams.

In Division 4 the only travelling team to win was Sheffield while all the remaining hosting teams took advantage of playing at home.
Division 4A Smithton defeated Devonport 5/2 and Wynyard defeated Port Sorell 4/3.
Division 4B Seabrook defeated West Coast 5/2 and Sheffield travelling to Penguin won 4/3
Division 4C Thirlstane defeated Burnie 4/3 while Ulverstone had a bye.
